Olmos' 26 pace OC Sports Coach Tom Ratkovich's Occidental College women’s basketball team duplicated their male counterparts by pounding second place Pomona-Pitzer, 63-50, to secure their seventh straight SCIAC title Tuesday night. Oxy’s women won their ninth straight conference game four days later beating Redlands, 55-28, on Saturday and were 9-0 going into last night’s regular season finale at la Verne. Alma Olmos scored a season high 26 points in the title decider against Pomona and 13 against Redlands., while Julie Casey grabbed 41 rebounds in the two games. Oxy will represent the SCIAC at the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) Division 111 western regional playoff at UC Davis for the third straight year. City Round-up Belmont, Eagle Rock fall in quarterfinals action Northern League chapnpion Belmont fumbled away scoring chances twice in the final 30 seconds and was beaten by North Hollywood’s Huskies, 6988, last Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the L.A. City Section-CIF 3A basketball tournament. First a bad pass that sailed out of bounds and then a mishandled layup secured the win for the Huskies after Belmont came from six points down to tie the game at 66-66 with less then a minute left. Extremely poor officiating and cold shooting from the line didn't help the Sentinel cause much either as Belmont missed the front end of one-plus-one free throw situations five times. •' Coach Tom Artma’s Sentinels out scored the Huskies from the floor 28 field goals to 23 but North Hollywood dropped in 23 of 33 free throw tries to Belmont’s 12 of 17 at the line. Aztecs deal Cruyff; pave way for sale One of the final remaining obstacles to the sale of the Los Angeles Aztecs soccer team to a syndicate representing a Latin American television network was met with the formal announcement Tuesday that Johan Cruyff had been dealt to the Washington Diplomats for “future considerations.’’ With the departure of Cruyff, the world’s best active soccer player. the North American Soccer League Aztecs have rid themselves of one of the highest salaries in professional sports. Cruyff, 32, was said to have reached an aggrement with the Diplomats for a reported $1.5 million over the next three years. His salary with the Aztecs has been estimated at $700,000 per year with one year remaining. No players were involved in the trade. The Aztecs acquired Cruyff midway through the last season in an effort to bolster sagging attendance in a franchaise considered critical to the survival of the NASL. Gty finals Saturday Franklin first at Central loop meet Franklin grapplers placed first in five events and took second in four others to total a winning 198V4 points at the Central League Wrestling Tournament Finals hosted Friday afternoon by the Panthers. The top four place winners in each weight class advance to this Saturday mornings L.A. City Sec-tion-CIF Championships Meet preliminaries at Pierce College in Woodland Hills. Finals in all 13 weight divisions are scheduled for later that evening. Perennial conference champions, the Panthers led all Central League teams with 13 qualifiers for this weekends City finals. Mules lose to Bulldogs five, 103-63 Jordan completely dominated the action to hand Northern League runner-up Wilson a 103-63 defeat in the quarterfinals of the L.A. City Section-CIF 3A Basketball Championship Tournament last Wednesday night. Coach Mario Cantu’s Mules never really got untracked against the tournament’s top seeded team as the quicker Bulldogs controlled the action at both ends of the court. The Jordan full court pressure was more then the Mules could handle as the host Bulldogs jumped out to a Z3-8 first period leads and poured it on from there. Guard Duane Hill scored a game high 31-points and forward Ed Catching added 27 to lead the Bulldog blitz against the smaller Mules. With the Bulldogs turning steals off the full court press into a 27 point lead by halftime, 51-24, Wilson was delt the death blow in the first 16 minutes of the contest. City Section-ClF’s Basketball Tournament Championship Finals doubleheader tomorrow night at Pauley Pavilion on the Westwood campus of UCLA. Tip-off for the 3A title decider between top seeded Jordan and second seeded Taft is set for 6:30 p.m., while Kennedy and defending 4A kingpin Crenshaw meet to decide the 1979-’BO crown at 8:30 p.m. The L.A. City 4A winner is automatically invited to the eight team Tournament of Champions field, featuring the winner of seven of California’s 10 sections, in Oakland. A second L.A.
