Associa tion who are seeking to establish the insti tution on a better basis, than the abuse, the railery, the clumsy attempt at witticism, and most of -all the enlisting, without obtaining their will or consent, of the fifty infants by the few active spirits -who have been working in the cause of their own private purses during the past fortnight. By a flaw in the rules of the Association — if it may be said to have rules atall — a few persons -whoso private interests are bound up in a particular part of this district have contrived to defeat thebest interest of the Association by swelling the list of voters with, the names of mere infants. Explosion of Infernal Machines in Edinburgh. [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven Telegraph — 11 May 1882

Explosion off Infernal Machines in XSdiubnrgh. (From the Scotsman, February 1B.J An outrage, almost without precedent in tho history of crime in the city, though of a nature not, unfortunately, unheard of recently in other parts of the country, occurred on Wednesday, in Edinburgh, wheroby eight persons belonging to two families were more or less injured, and tho houses in which they resided1, partially wrecked. The mischief was done by what have come to bo known as 'infernal machines' — that is to i say, boxes charged with an explosive material, and constructed in such a way that upon their being oponed a violent explosion occurrod, which placed the members of the households who had re ceived them in tho greatest jeopardy. In iono case a box was sent to Mr. A. M'Donald, No. 6, Hill-place, and in the other to Miss M. Barron, 19, St. James' -street ; and it appealed at once, on inquiry, that the cir cumstances connected with both occurrences clearly' pointed to a common snndev ; anc l...
