The proprietor of the Tamworth News has been committed to take his trial for libelling Eddy, the Commissioner of Railways. He published an article, in which it was asserted that the Commissioner had abased his position by appointing relatives of his own to various posi- tions in the Railway Department. Sir Henry and Lady Parkes met with a bad cab accident on Sunday. They were both thrown from the vehicle, and. the Premier sustained a bad fracture of the small, bones of the right leg. - The lady escaped unhurt. A new boiler has just arrived from Hongkong to the . order of the ' Port Darwin- Navigation Company and will be placed in their steamer Maggie at once. We understand that the P . D. Rifle Club have been presented by Mr. H. W. H. Stevens with a trophy to be shot for during the. present .season, .but the: conditions are not yet arranged. Mr. J. A. G. Little, who secured a <'legin" for the P.D.R.O. Cup on Saturday last, did some marvellous shooting on the previous Saturday whilst practising at one of the long, ranges.
