THE OTTAWA FREE TRADER. Great Conflagration Uy ibis morn ing mat! we learn that Kochesler, N. Y., has been visited with a conflagration more destructive than any that had previously occurred for many year. It broke out on the night of the ISih, in a cabinet shop. In a few minutes, iho long row of wooden buildings on Front street were- consumed. At tlio time ilia fire broke out, all the fire companies were absent nt the steamboat lauding, two miles distant, f.ir the purpose of receiving the Toronto firemen, who were on a visit to liochcstcr. The few engines on the ground were worked by inexperienced persons, nnd did but little to clay the progress of the flames. The fire extended down the east nnd west sido of Fron'. and Works street. The Rochester papers think that the loss cannot bo less than 830,000. The conflagration was in the heart of the business part of the city, ami was undoubtedly the work of incendiaries. Chicago News.
