A Wandering Car [Newspaper Article] — National Rural and Family Magazine — 5 January 1899
A Wandering Car On December 25 , 1896 , Minneapolis and St . Ixrais car No . 3 , 118 left Minneapolis with a load of flour destined to Montgomery , Ala . It -went through to its destination with reasonable promptness—about eight days . Instead of returning the car via the same route as received , the Atlanta and West Point Eailroad started it on a series of diversions , and it has not yet reached home , although at one time it got as far north as Peoria , Illinois . There it was turned back , evidently with another load for the South , as it was delivered to the Southern Eailway on September 28 , 1897 . Since that time the owners have not been able to locate it at all . It has made a trip to New York , Boston and Montreal , but was returned westward and southward via the same route until it reached the southern lines , since which time it has been wandering around among the southern states .
