Iraprlosnecl ! a Mine. In tbo colliery districts of Pondlcburj lind Clifton, on July 21,22,and 23,an ex traordinary accident happened at the Clifion Hall Colliery. Four hundred and twenty men and boys were- em ployed in tho underground works oi the pit, which is ono of tho deepest in the district. Tho cam o of tho accident was tho collision of two cages meeting mid way down tho shaft, which cut off all communication with tho head workinge, and 430 men and boys wero in conse quence imprisoned for nearly forty hours. Men wero set to work to clear tho shaft, and ovenlualry ono of them fell into tho dip holo at tho bottom of tho pit. It was not until 9 o'clock, how ever, on Saturday morning that commu nication with tho men below could bo oponod. Tho wailing was very exciting.
