I had always supposed that this was the result of ignorance an(5 misconception, but in the light of a recent experience it appears that the flag covers Hawaii only in part. On arriving in San Francisco the other day we were all rounded up and subjected to a Hoard of Im migration examination. Most of us declared our American citizen ship and were checked off, but one unfortunate lady travelling under my escort was subjected to grave inconvenience and much discom fort. TUBS GARDEN ISLAND, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 1614 DIVIDENDS BY The following is the dividend .history of various plantations for last year and this: Ewa Plantation Co., January 4, 1913, 'reduced its dividends from 12'2 per cent to 9 per cent, or 15c a share monthly; last half of vear reduced it to 5c a month, with an extra 10c in December making S per cent for the year. This year it has been paying 10c a month Now it announces an extra divi dend of 2 per cent a month for the last three months of the year. Hai ku Sugar Co. had been paying 50c monthly, or 6 per cent per annum, until September 22, 1914. when it declared SI, beginning October 1. Hawaiian Agricultural Co. paid St. 50 inonthlv on par value $100 for the first six months of 1913, and 75c for the rest of the year.
