THREO WIUTN Na ZDOTQW. ABS SABCRE. John D. Lee and His Thirst for Booty *andaelet. Correspondence N. Y. IHerald. SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 8, 1874. You have, no doubt, already been advis ed by telegraph of the arrest of John D. Lee in Cedar City Beaver county, on the charge of having been the leader in the hor rible Mountain Meadows Massacre, the cir cumstances regarding which, the readers of the Herald, not perhaps, being familiar with, I will relate : NARRATIVE OF THE MASSACRE. William H. Rogers, a Government agent, crossed the plains with General A. S. John ston's army in 1857, in charge of the treas ure train. Rogers heard of the terrible massacre at Mountain Meadows on his way across the plains. It was reported that the emigrants were mmudered by Indians. These emigrants were white men, American citi zens of Arkansas. Gen. Jolnston's army was unable to reach Salt Lake City in sea son, and was obliged to encamp at Fort Bridger for the winter of 1857. In the spring of '58, however, th...

ht t Sw ~loth - Not JAB. H.L ]M -. . EDITOR AND PUBLISHER Is8UED EVERY FRIDAY FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18, 1874. THINSG GENERALLY. BY MAX ADELER. The fact announced in some of the papers, that a woman in Hoboken has two six legged cats, does not excite me. This is the kind of news that a man can receive with calmness and we can all retain our composure, even, if cats shall make a gen eral practice of accumulating legs, until every cat on earth is as well equipped in this respect as a centipede. The Amer ican people are a patient race; but there is a place where they draw the line. It is at abnormally vociferous ca...
