THE DAILY RECORD-UNION, j WEDSK-AIAI BEPTEHBEK *2, 18S0. THE STATE FAIR. TWENTY- SEVENTH ANNUAL FAIR OF THE CALIFORNIA STATE AGRICUL- .7 - ; TURAL SOCIETY. SECOND DAY. The second day of the State Fair was a successful one for the Agricultural Society. The patronage exceeded that of the like day last year. The spirit of the people was of the kindliest toward the association. The stock parade developed the fact that the Snest gathering of stock is secured yet known to expositions on this coast. The races were well attended, satisfactorily run, and so con ducted as to be greatly enjoyed by specta tors. The Pavilion has filled up handsomely with exhibits, and the appearance of the in terior justifies generous commendation and praise. The arrival of the , President of the United States, in response to the invitation of the Agricultural Society, has gratified the popular desire to meet the Chief Magistrate face to face and have him and his party wit- ness a State Exposition of California'...

THE DAILY RECORD -I SION. A SACRAMENTAN ABROAD. Syracuse (N. Y.J. September 8, 1830. Are there any politics talked or worked in California? lam somewhat inclined to the belief that there is scarcely a politic left for the Pacific Coast, there being so much in use on this side of the Rocky mountains and the Missouri river. While it impresses me more than ever with the grandeur of my country to travel from the Golden Gate to this Empire State, and witness the evidences of pros perity on every hand for over three thou sand miles, tinder one flag, yet I am at the game time almost convinced, by the same traveling, that our Presidential elec tions occur too frequently. I have heard politics and candidates,' parties and plat forms, discussed in half a dozen States for j. week, and the whole nation appears to me like a boiling pot — seething and foam ing, sputtering and fizzing.
