President Hayes has renewed the nominations of Lewis for Naval Officer and Burwell for Register of the Land Office at New Orleans, which expired with the extra session of Congress. Mrs. Bienvenue Cite died at her husband's residence, a short distance below town, this week. The prettiest holiday present ex tant-the Centennial Harp. For sale by H. H. Willers, on the frout street. A holiday ball will be given under the auspices of Ascension Hook and Ladder Company, Saturday evening, the 29th inst., at D. S. C. B. Hall. Parish Court opened last Monday and at once adjourned to Monday next. The Judge intended to order an adjournment until the ensuing reg ular term, in January, but designated the earlier day by request of a mem ber of the bar. Phoenix Fire Company will give its fourth anniversary ball at D. S. C. B. Hall New Year's eve, and there will be a fine time, as usual.
