THE GOVERNOR'S MESSAGE Hasbeon received, and presented to our read ers; nnd while we aro willing to acknowledge tho correctness of many of the views of the Executive; yet from the deinagogueisni and partisanship,, tho 6elfiklmcss and . injustice evinced in his Kansas pettifogging, and his recommendations respecting tho Swamp Lands, we turn away with a feeling akin to disgust. There is no object of legislation coming befbro our ' present Legislature in which tho citizens of the northern portion of our State arc eo deeply interested as in the disposal of tho Swamp Lands. The fact that almost tho entire quantity of those lands lie in tho new and unsettled portion of tho State, a curso upon its growth and settle ment that could only bo partially mitigated, even by being allowed to uso all of tho funds arising from their sale, for the purpose of drainage, should make every citizen of the northern counties earnest, and awake, re...

Death or the " Angel Gabriel.' The " Angel Gabriel " properly called Jolin Say crs Orr is no more. '' Late intelligence from Dcmeram announces his decease at the penal settlement in that colony in November. His disease was dysentery his age about 35. Orr was well known in New York. Two or three years ago he was a noted street charac ter in "this city ; experienced untold griefs at the hands of the police, who wero always in terfering with his pastimes; frequently got into the newspapers, and once or twice : in jail. Orr was an Englishman by birth, but spent many years in this country. It is the charitable way of accounting for his oddities to say ho was partially deranged, and thero is little doubt that his intellect was so shat tered as to lead him to the commission of the follies which finally consigned him to the pun ishment which ho was still undergoing at the time of his death. His delusion took the form of a religious monomania. He imaj; iucd himself tho 44 Angel Gabriel, whos...

Walker is reported as in letter condition than ever, having 1,200 able bodied men with hiin at Hivas, well supplied with ammu nition and provisions. Col. Lockridgo and his 800 men were 6till waiting at Punta Ar eas for the completion of a steamer, to be ready about the 17th inst., with which to go up the river, and retake, if possible, Castello and San Carlos and reopen the transit route.
