Pike, whilom of Cincineait, and of world wide opera-bhoes fame, proposes to lay out a race-course on his reclalmed marsh land near New York City, which will throw Jerome Park into the shade. as a place of out-door amuse ments. and at the esme time be more accessible to the public, both from its proximity to the city and the low prices of admission. One year ago Mr. Pike bougLt about 5000 acres of the land on which he proposes to lay out his race-coase, and paid for It an average of $85 per acre.
