Tho thirty fourth annul conven tion of the General Assembly of the Freibytorlan church In the United States (southern church) commenced at the First Presbyterian church In Dallas, Texas, May 10. The opening sermon was preached by the retiring moderator, Dr. J. Graham, ot Vir ginia. Dr. Hemphill, of Louisville, Ky., was elected moderator by acclamation. Eev. Robert Adams, ot Macon, Ga., and F. J. Horno, of Arkansas, woro elected temporary clerics. Rev. Dr. Lorenz, of DallaB, was selected to perform the duties of the convention in the place of the late Dr. A. P. Smith, pastor ot the First Presbyterian church, of Dallas.
