To my surprise, I heard a number of people on the street remark on how "demeaning" such a perfomance had been to the high office of the Presidency. They spoke of the President's three brief taped appearances as "undig- nified" and "frivolous". Well, I just have to disagree. The rehearsed bits were a* great deal more dignified than anyone of Mr. Ford's recent accidental pratfalls. And I found the fact that a sit- ting President was willing to do a few brief stints of stand- up humor one of the most refreshing developments to come out of Washington recently. After all, we've just come out of an era when to c...

TEXAS 78957 APRIL 29.19^6 Forum From Page I hour coverage, with the understanding that the law provides that a deputy sheriff can serve no more than 48 hours in any one {week without compensatory time off. Add to that the problem of scheduling a ^ bailiff in court now we are r having two district courts 5 meeitng at the same time I and the possibility of county : court meeting at the same tune In addition to that there ts apt to be a criminal : jury trial and you have to r have a deputy to protect the prisoner from the jury or ; whatever. also one to $ speak to the jury. So you > can see right awav how you f can use up four deputies * to the court. It is my impression that the law is written and set out to what the Sheriff should do and how he should do it. It also tells us what the law is for the Sheriff to enforce. As far as I'm concerned that is the only law Co enforce. The Sheriff's duty is set out that he will peacefully en...
