Xpril2$ 1994 jtdVllTtS 3 Are You Just Drowsy or Sleep Deprived? j College Press Service Sleep. It's a biological neces- sity but how many of us consider it as important as breathing or eating? Every night millions of Americans hit the pillow a little later than they would have liked only to wake up to the piercing sounds of their alarm clocks for another tiresome day. College students are infamous for skimping on sleep and then snoozing through classes. Not unlike many other students Bryan Marenstein aUniversity of Wash- ington sophomore says he usu- ally makes it to bed between 3 and 4 a.m. averaging six or less hours of sleep per night. "Earlier in the quarter I got a lot of sleep in the library-on the couches the chairs the ground anywhere I could find a place to lie down" Marenstein said. 6 Arts & 'Entertaimmnt 7$ 1fitBtand 1994 Jen & Zim: White Fang II a worthy sequel Steve Zimmer: Positive portrayal of wolves When a movie such as White Fang 2 is released with the "family viewing" label there is a subtle con- notation that the work is tame stale or somehow inferior to those films with the general appeal Unfortunately this label will likely turn many away from seeing a new triumph from Walt Disney Pic- tures. While a solid film in its own merit it is a sequel to the Disney hit of about three years ago. It tells the story of Henry Casey (Scott Bairstow) who is tending to a productive claim in Alaska. His only companion is the half-wolf White Fang. A run in with a vagrant encour- ages him to get his gold and head for town. On the trip as can be guessed there is a boat wreck. Henry's body then turns up down the river where he is tended to by Lilly Joseph (Charmaine Craig) a young Native American who has been sent out by her people on a quest This quest pertains ...

(April 27th & April 29th) -Trout- Written by William R. Lewis with David Lowe and Jeremy Moran Trout is about two old men who love to fish. They proceed to spend their time trying to catch fish and discuss their philosophy on life and those who know nothing about fishing. The comedic tension between the two characters is like watching a tennis match as they insult and criticize one another. They resemble two old friends who have been around each other so much that they can't stand the other but they are still friends and love to fish. Trout directed by Rodney Guenther will be performed in the Van Ellis Theatre. -Postcards- A dark comedy by Carol K. Mack is an insightful look into the destructive power of personal relationships. The play takes place on a sunny beach where the three characters Isabel a spirited worldly wom...

4 Features The Brand September IS 1994 A funny thing happened to me on the way to the office this morning. Iremembered--hey I don't have an office. I guess it was just the excite- ment of everything that is taking place on campus and all of the incredible opportu- ni ties. for fun fellowship and service. The Baptist Student Union's theme this year is No Fear and it is based on II Timothy 1:7 which says "For God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind." This is really an incredible Scripture and some powerful words. Let's stop and meditate on that for a second. . .O.K. thanks that was great. Letters have been pouring into the "office" this week (not really but I've always -wanted to say that) with the same question "How can I become involved?" I decided to give' my faithful readers the answers they deserve. I would like to personally invite you to attend the BSU Noon Luncheon every Tuesday at University Baptist Church (behind Anderson Hall). We will be thr...
