Week's Epitome. The annual Friendly Societies' Demon stration in aid of the hospital was very largely attended at Brisbane on Satur day, and the sum of £101 8s. lOd. was collected. It was stated at tho Christian En deavour Convention on Saturday evening that there was a probability of the next Anstralasian Convention being held in Brisbane. The carpenters and joiners of Brisbane have obtained a promise from the Asso ciated Builders and Contractors to ad vance wages on and after 1st September, and a meeting on Fridny night it was re solved not to work for less than 9s. per day.
