Society a rab cominittee w^a 'asked to report upon a request to join tbe South Coast Ag ricultaral Societies' Union. The cen tral aim of tbe Union is to raise the standard of the dairy stock of the dis trict, and with that object ia view it proposes a, systematic testing of dairy cows ; also that each society joining the TSnion should undertake this work in its own district The Union re commends the establishment of a District Herd Book, 'under proper regulations, so that all may be on the same basis and having the same stan dard.'
