The most searching investigations in St. Petersburg at first, gave no result, but on December G-the ' fekecutlenof the terrible threat being appoin tod (or the same night-a man was arrested in Maschkoff Penult, not far from the Winter j Paltoe, wbo, htwever( obstinately refused to AQcpjuit of himself. The Mayoralty. [Newspaper Article] — Warwick Argus — 10 February 1880

The Mayoralty. THE selection of Mr. M'KEA.CHIE as Mayor for tbe ensuing year was a wise step, and one on which the town may well foel content. The re-appointment of the ex-Ma#or to again fill tho office of chief magistrate for Warwick is an honor well deserved by Mr. M'KEACHIE, not only from tlie energy ho has dis played during his past term of office, but the strict impartiality manifested in the discharge of his civic functions, and the readiness with which ho was always prepared (to co-operato in the promotion of matters outside the Conn, cil chamber. In a town like Warwick the position o? mayor is by no means easy of fulfilment to the satisfaction of all parties, for ho has not only to curb recalcitrant Aldermen during mo ments of over heated debate,' but his countenance and support are frequently solicited in aid'of the promotion of af fairs, which are altogether. foreign to his official duties. And the unbounded measure of sympathy which our pro sent Mayor is gifted with, prec...
