WONDERFUL POWER OF THE WIFE. [Newspaper Article] — Foster and Toora Mirror and South Gippsland Shire Advocate — 28 May 1914

WONDERFUL POWER OF TH WIFE. No married man ever prospered in the true sense of the word without the co-operation and help of his wife. If she unites in mutual endeavors, ov rewards his labors with an endear ing smile, with what confidence will ho resort to his daily toil, meet diffi culty and encounter danger, if lie knows that he is not spending his strength in vain, but that his efforts will be rewarded by the sweets of home! Solicitude and disappointment enter the history of every man's life, and he is only half provided for his voyage if his associate is fit only for hours of pleasure, while for his months of darkness no sympathising partner is prepared to cheer and com fort. The worthy wife can wield i power far beyond computation, and the happy home, free from drink, is the scene of strength and support. For the cantie wifie's smile Will the cares o' life beguile And banish care and toil Frae our ain fireside.

TREAT YOUR GRASS WELL. [Newspaper Article] — Foster and Toora Mirror and South Gippsland Shire Advocate — 28 May 1914

TREAT YOUR GRASS WELL. There is no department of farm work calling for better treatment than the young grass. A top-dressing of from one-and-a-half to two hundred weight of superphosphate would not only help to fill up the head of grain on what is generally the last crop of 11!o rotation; but it would also im prove the quantity and quality of the resulting grass. Coarse grasses and weedy herbage would disappear un der its influence, and when the erop was cut such an amount of early gra zing could bo had from it licit (lie manure would he more than repaid. A dressing of superhosphate causes the free development of white clover and other leguminous plants, and these make its use remunerative. The condition of the young grass is a point, demanding the ('lose attention of every farmer who wishes to sue <?1 ed. Subsequent crops depend on heavy carrying capacity. If an even growth of grass is obtained, covering the ground nicely, the practical man controls the situation, and ca...
