Obituary. DEATH OF MRS. F. POPPLE. [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra and Yea Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton and Acheron Express — 30 April 1909

Obituary. DEATH OF MRS. F. POPPLE Although the late Mrs. Popple had been   ailing for some considerable time from that dreaded complaint cancer, it was not ex-     pected that the end was so near. On Thurs-   day of last week, her daughter, Mrs. A. Kidd, paid a visit to her mother, and on leaving Mrs Popple appeared quite cheer- ful although suffering great agony. The following day, at 10 o'clock, the sad intelli- gence of her sudden collapse and peaceful death reached the town. It was a severe blow to the family and friends, but consola tion was found in the fact that a good mother and kind friend had at last been relieved of most terrible pain. It appears that some years ago Mrs.   Popple was struck on the breast with a cric ket ball thrown at her in jest by one of the family, al of whom were very young. No particular notice was taken until some con-   siderable time afterwards when certain developments ...

New Road to Railway Station. After lunch on Monday, shiro councillors walked over the route of the proposed now road from the town to the railway station. When the council met in the afternoon, Councillor Leckie moved-That the engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifica tions, and prepare estimate for forming new road through park leading from Perkins street to railway station, for which 100 has been granted by Government, and that Miss laddox be approached to sell or exchange small portion of her allotment for road.
