Mr. Gladstone as a Daring Diner Out. [Newspaper Article] — The Scrutineer and Berrima District Press — 8 November 1892

Mr. ^Gladstone as a Paring IMiicr -Dut. Tho London Court Journal saya : — 11 Mr. Glad stone dines out with a re^urlarity and that could not be excelled by a man of half hia years. One who meets him often at these gastronomic tournaments says that Mr. G.'s participation in their enjoyments iB by no means perfunctory. Some men past CO, still dining out, enjoy themselves under severorestrictions, daintily picking their way through the menu. Mr. G,, past 80, is apparently under no such restrictions. Ho eats what comes, generally right through the menu, and can tako his glass of port after hia libation of champagne, a test from which inauy an ardent diner out would brink. ^ His mental activity is on a par with his physical vigour. His conversation ia a never flagging flood, brimful of interest, If it were only possible to reproduce a verbatim report of hia con versation at a dinner-party, whero the porsonal surroundings aro sufficiently interesting to excite him to talk, there would bo p...

Change.— It would come upon the children attending the Moss Valo Public school yesterday morning as a great blow to hear that the depart ment had promoted their teacher, Miss Edith Fisher, to tho Willounhby school (North Shore). Already we have learned that the parents of tho children feel that a serious loss to their children will arise from her removal, for they say tho difficulty with them was not to get their children to attend school but to keep them away oven ono day while Miss Fisher was there. Miss Fisher is a lady singularly gifted by nature in teaching— ever tactful in the highest degree in dealing with the various disposi tions of children, and thus no wonder we hear that littlo ones feel when suddenly the department has ordered her transfer.
