FBEE discussion is a good tbing, but it bas certain obvious drawbacks. It is much easier to destroy confidence Iban to establish it. A babbling fool may sow mischief which the wisest man may afterwards find it impossible to eradicate. A few days ago we noticed with much satisfaction the intended establishment of a Queensland Bank. It was a step in the right direction, and we anticipated that from one end of the colony to the other the projectors would be wished God-speed. But what do we find? Why, that in Ipswich, and even the metropolis itself, some witless news- paper scribes are trying to sow the seeds of distrust in the project. It BBBDJS that out of the 25,000 shares to be issued in the first instance, 12,000 have been reserved for allotment in Sydney, and that this has roused the ire of a section of Queensland patriots. A good j deal of inconvenience was occasioned by the crowding of spectators. This disadvantage would be removed if buyers were admitted at the gate by ticket. The sale was not very suc- cessful, and the day was badly chosen, ea those who wculd be likely to purchase good blood stock were reluctant to invest until after the race- meeting. Of the sot submitted, tbe fol- lowing may be mentioned as tbe piok, viz. : A brown colt from Bylong's sister, by Sir Hercules, foaled September 5, 1870. Had moderate bead winds with fine weather to Maryborough ; thence to Bustard Head moderate S.E. winds, with thick rainy woatber, and thence to Keppel Bay fine weather.
