Presentation to Father Ahem. A kkw of Falhcr Ahern's lady and gentlemen friends met at the Presbtery on Thursday night, for tlio purpose of presenting to the rev. gentleman a small token of esteem on the eve of his departure lor Casino. Ihe Mayor (Mr. Webster), after a brief speech, asked Fa I her Ahem to accept a purse of sovereigns from a few of his Ballina friends. 'Thenruount was not large, but the giving was spontaneous, and he was sure they, could have raised a much larger' sum if tho matter had been in ken up earlier. However, he knew their rev. friend would iake- the will for the deed, and accept the gift in (he spirit in which it was offered.
