He has, in my iiumble judgment, thrown new and im* portant li ght on the true construction of Acts, viii: 38, 39 ; a passage which our Baptist brethren regard as their "murus _aheneus,"—an impregnable fortress in defence of immersion in the ordinance of baptism. An additional suggestion is respectfully submitted. The very minute and circumstantial, account, which the inspired supposition that no other mode than that of " dipping," prevailed," or was known at that time. For the Presbyterian Banner and Advocate A Work of Grace in I/ake Presbytery. Rev. and Dear Brother:—Your readers no doubt, are rejoiced to hear of the work of the,Lord being reviyed. We held our, Communion season on the third Sabbath of January, and have continued the services daily until this time. The Lord * our God has graciously visited us with a most precious work of _igrace. We have had other revival seasons; but in no one have the people of God _seeaaed more blest than in this one. Some of our prayer, meetings have been among the most , solemn jl have ever been in. But the blessing was not confined to the church Some forty precious souls cherish hope in Christ. The Lord has done gredt things for us whereof we are glad, and to him be all the praise. Man's fallen, and utterly ruined and guilty condition, and the sovereign grace of God, offered freely through Christ, have been very fully insisted upon in all the preaching. Bro. Hughes / of Logansport, was with us eight or te...
