Student Financial Aid, Important For Education A growing awareness of the importance of a higher education is cultivating an increase in the amount of financial aid needed for education by the student. Many students are prohibited in obtaining this education because of the rising cost of college expenses. Basic expenses can cover tuition, room and board, books, supplies, and other items which add to the cost of attending a college. The main problem concerning financial aid is that money is lacking to support the financial aid programs. President Nixon has already enacted a plan Registration at Behrend seemed just as baffling year as it has been in the past. But everything went quite smoothly for registration was held in the RUB cafeteria and Lecture Hall. S.G.A. Initiates New Constitution All Student Government Association meetings, except when designated, are open to all students. The next meeting will be held October 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the S.G.A. office. The office is located on the lower level of the Reed Union Building near the RUB desk. Officers are: Walker Moore, president; Ken Mushrush, vice president; and Ed Moore, treasurer. The S.G.A. is a student government body, duly elected to represent the interests of all Behrend students. It sponsors social and intellectual events for the betterment of life on campus. Its strength lies in the fact that it is an elected body and it controls the budgets of most student organizations. Yet, the primary purpose of S.G.A. remains to involve students in Penn State. The S.G.A. held its second and third meeting of the fall term in the S.G.A. office. At the second meeting, held September 25, a revised list of by-laws for elections to the S.G.A. was discussed and approved. S.G.A. vice-pre...

Freshman Customs Those little purple booklets thai several devoted freshman hung onto during the week of September 25-29; securing a few chosen signatures, describe Freshmen Customs as an "opportunity for the freshmen to meet each other and upperclassmen and to acquaint themselves with their campus." That is exactly what the fresh men have set out to do only without having to use back doors, count ropes on the model Niagara, sing songs. or_ count bricks, doors and stop signs. The Student Government Association <SGA ) had good intentions as stated in the Student Handbook and these intentions were carried out by the freshmen. One example is the "Hello spirit." Try " walking around campus during the week not _axpecting to be greeted with Hi!" (not to mention returning it). It will be almost impossible_, rhe freshmen are not afraid to express themselves; customs or no customs. Among the many opinions of freshmen and underclassmen, several agreed that Freshmen ("ustoms was...

Job Placement Offered For Behrend Students One important service provided by the counseling program at Behreud is its job placement service. This is helpful, to both graduate and undergraduate students. For the undergraduates there are sheets available on how to conduct yourself and establish ease at a job interview. Guest speakers are scheduled to talk with students on this subject. Another offer for undergrads is a summer placement service based on career related jobs. This gives a student some experience in working before graduation and also helps in financing the following year of school. Graduate students can find information concerning employment with such companies as Kodak or Argon. There are now nine companies on record that will be recruiting from Behrend Campus. For the two year, Associate Degree graduates there is an Internship Program offered for Engineering and Accounting students: If you are interested in any of the above programs, go to the Behrend Building t...
