ITHE BESTIICREAM IISEPARATOR IH AND THE DIFFERENCE IN I CREAM SEPARATOR ADVERTISING I All separator advertisements seem very much alike to the I average reader , who is at a loss what to make of them and I how best to attempt guessing which may be the best machine , H where all claim to be the best and all appear to be about H everything that could be asked for . I THE EXPLANATION AND THE SOLUTION ARE I TO BE FOUND IN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DE LAVAL AND OTHER CREAM SEPARATOR ADVERTISING . The De Laval Company has always stuck to the old fash- H ioned plan of having its advertising written in its own offices , H by the men who make and sell its machines and have been I doing so for years , and who know no more about advertising I than to describe as simply and best they can the merit and I efficiency of the machines they offer to the public . M . . _— I DIPPING SHEEP ALL sheep are troubled with external parasites unless thoroughly dipped at shearing time and again shortly afterwards . Besides ticks sheep are often seriously injured with lice On account of the wool and the small size of the lice it is almost impossible to see them . Many sheep are worried to death with lice when the owner has not the slightest idea of what the trouble is . . . It is easy to dip sheep and it is perfectly safe in the summer time . If they are thoroughly cleansed in warm weather they are not likely to become badly infected during the winter unless they are permitted to run with other sheep that have not been treated . Very often showing sheep at the fairs will lead to trouble unless the exhibition stock is very carefully guarded and taken car ? of before mixing again with the home flock . There are so many advantages fro...

General Farming j [Newspaper Article] — Farm Press — 1 June 1908

General Farming j For the . most practical bit of farm experience we will send one of our new 160-page barn books , with more than 300 illustrations . YOu need not take special pains to put it in careful language ; just write us a letter telling how you did something and-how you succeeded . The barn book goes this time to . Frank AN eals , Lombard , 111 . A CATCH OF CLOVER By C . 0 . Smith , III . THE catch of clover is particularly important . If . the foundation principles of agriculture were not violated farmers would not fail with their clover . They had little trouble to secure a catch of clover upon the virgin soil of this country . But after the land has become worn by long cultivation , ¦ without a regular system of rotation , and without returning any plant food to the soil , it . is harder to get the clover started . It is no -wonder that there are now many poor stands of clover , because the oats and clover seeding is done • with a rush , and only half done ; the oats are...

Send ( or catalogues ; ask questions ; investigate . We give you this advice because we feel sure that after you have looked into the matter thoroughly you will decide upon Congo . Congo can stand the minutest examination . In fact , we urge this method for our own good sis well as the customer s , because it increases trade and makes for us life long friends . Congo deserves its leading position among ready roofings because it has all the I qualifications needed in a durable , waterproof roof . Congo not only is absolutely waterproof when laid , but it remains so for yean . I If you have a leaky roof , you can appreciate how annoying and expensive it it . I Congo avoids all this . These are facts well worthy of consideration , and if you put up a new building , or I if your old roof gives trouble , use Cong...

ORCHARD AND GARDBi- [Newspaper Article] — Farm Press — 1 June 1908

ORCHARD AND GARDBi- APPLES IN WESTERN NEBRASKA By E . F . Stephens A PPLES in the David Hunter orchard v at Sutherland , Lincoln county , in Western Nebraska , sold last fall for $ 1 . 65 per box , or $ 5 . 00 a barrel , an increase of a dollar on a barrel over the value of apples of the same quality in Eastern Nebraska . When the advantages of soil , climate and irrigation are fully utilized , Western Nebaska should not only grow fruit for its own markets , but should have sufficient surplus of beautiful , high colored fruit to market in less favored regions . Chemical analysis has shown that in many places soil in the semi-arid regions contains three times as much potash , six • times as much magnesia- and fourteen times as much lime as the average soil of the middle states . This is doubtless due to the fact that plant foodvhas been stored for ages and has not been washed away by heavy rainfall . High elevation and cool nights and sunny-days of the semi-arid regions coupled with ...
