The October Elections. From the New York Times, Oct. 1. The Democrats, it is now conceded, have carried their State ticket in Ohio by from 15,000 to 20,000 majority, and have made a gain of six Congressmen. These are Savage in the Third, McMahon in the Fourth, Hard in the Sixth, Poppleton in the Ninth, Vance in the Eleventh, and Payne in the Twentieth District. The delegation will stand 18 to 6. In Indiana, the Democrats have carried the State ticket by a majority variously estimated at from 8,000 to 15,000, and have made a gain of four Congressmen, The Delegation will stand 8 to 5. This makes a change of 20 votes in the House. The Legislature in Indiana is said to be controlled by the Independent members, who hold the balance of power. It has to elect a Senator in place of Mr. Pratt. Ne braska and Iowa are Republican, as report ed yesterday. The probabilities are, there fore, that the Senate will be unaffected by the October elections. The victory of the Democratic Party in the Sta...

Itemizing Damasges. The most remarkable feature growing out of the Beecher scandal, which has yet come to light, is the motion made by Beecher's counsels that Tilton shall be compelled to furnish a bill of particulars of the damages which he charges in his com plaint. It would seem the original cause had been presented in sufficient detail for Mr. Beecher to understand every particu lar of it and what every patticular was worth. If he does not understand it, who can? He ought to be familiar enough with the subject to reduce every item of dama ge which he has occasioned down to a finc tion of a cent. There has been no one so familiar in Mr. Tilton's family as lie, and no ole is so well-acquainted with the man ner in which it is charged that Mr. Tilton's home was broken up. lie is an expert and thoroughly competent to testify. If the matter were left out to public arbitration the arbitrators would probably settle upon a bill of items somewhat as follows: 11. W. B. to T. T. Dr. For los...

Sht *tw foarth - Atrot. TEN T'Iots -ND SHEP.IT-he Denver (Col.) Tribune of October 26 says: Yester day morning Mr. Perea's vast flock ot sheep airived on the bluff to the southwest of the city, and this morning they were delivered to the parties to whom they had been sold. Our reporter in company with Mr. Perea, visited the flock which numbers about 10, 500 head, and was surprised to find the animals in such splendid condition, after a jaunt of over 400 miles, which was accom plished in about forty-five days. On the trip to Denver only about thirty head were lost, including those killed by the herders for meat. Four thousand ewes, not ablack one among them, were kept by themselves, and, as they were huddled together by the order of Mr. Perc, the sight was one not soon to be forgotten. The movements of the bodies, as the sun shone across them, reminded one most forcibly of the waves on a large body of water. The sheep are divided into flocks of about 3,000 each, and are then tended b...
