Returning home from Alamo gordo, Now Mexico Tuesday, Mrs. .Joe Foster died on the trail) between here and Amarillo. The burial was had the following day at the City Cemetery after services held hv Elder Sam T. Shore and Rev. M. K. Hawkins. Mrs. Foster contracted the disease from which she died, consumption, something over a year ago. She waited on a Mrs. Alexander who died of this com plaint here and it is thought that it was from this kindness, freely given by her, that she received the germ which tinally cut short her useful life. Her trip to Al amogordo, accompanied by her husband taken some two weeks ago, was in t lit hope of receiving benefit from the change, hut it failed of this result and she was coming home to die, as most of us wish to, surrounded by child ren, relatives and lriemls. siie was denied this as the end came soo...

Mr. and Mrs. John Howell re turned to Lake Arthur, New Mexico, yesterday evening, his mother and Harry going with them to remain a week or so. J. W. Cowart is once more' at his place of business, the City Bakery. Frank Beaver, the ba ker, who has been sick too in also on duty again. Their goods, bread, cakes, pies and candies, are made here out of pure stuff and are as good as you will tind anywhere. The smallpox situation is be ing kept well in hand and the number of cases is growing beau tifully less each day. A strict quarantine is being maintained and by reason of this and thru vaccination it .is expected that by April 1st Canyon City will be entirely clear of the disease.
