'Page i fatr Rnvw Sepltmber 7, t9jt Square Dancing Not For Squares! Most kinds of music are adaptable to square dance music. This was demonstrated Sunday afternoon in the Beer Garden by the Roadrunners Square Dance Club of La Grange, who performed square dances to rock, country and more traditional songs. Caller Phil Lesler delighted the crowd as much as the dancers did with his ability to work the calls into virtually any song you can name A man who de finately loves what he's doing. Lesler delighted everyone with his fine voice. About 45 members now belong to the club. They meet once a week at the Presbyterian Church in La Grange, and would be interested in talking to anyone who would like to join and learn to square dance Their annual gala, the "Cluchen Jamboree" will be held at the Round up Hall in La Grange in October, with visiting Square Dance Clubs from all over Texas and Louisiana I said tour - bow many times have I gotta toll yo«? P«jf lo frnr 'fcorirw.VjK. tttrj? Hay, that's my wife you're throwing OnStage! Four great acts appeared on the stage at the Fairgrounds last weekend giving the crowds music, thrills and good clean entertainment. Two shows nightly were presented, with back- ground music provided by the Blue I^ady of Weimar on the organ. Mrs. Jessie McFar land is known as the Blue Lady from Blue Lady Hill for her theme song, "Red Roses For A Blue Lady." She and her husband Paul, better known as "Old Mac," are retired now and living in Osage. Appearing first was Joyce Rice, who grew up on a small farm in Idaho, so is no stranger to country fairs. She does rope tricks, twirls two, three and even four batons, and an amazing display of Australian whip cracking. She leaves soon to perform her act in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Klementis are an Austriangroup who perform daredevil stunts on bicycles. Tney appeared here first in 1973, and have gotten in quite a bit of practice CltlAA tkmi rutlinUioM — A. '...

Tagt tilmrfeviewMf mbtr~. 157# U Rain on my Parade' Doesn't Dampen Enthusiasm for Fair Parade In spite of the drizzling rain that continued throughout the afternoon, Thursday 's Fair Parade wound through streets crowded with confirmed parade watchers. Many were huddled under um- brellas and newspapers, but their enthusiasm was not dampened by the weather. Entries dropped off as the rain continued, but by the time the parade began there was only a light mist falling. One coula easily ignore the mist looiking at the bright colors on the imaginatively decorated floats. Top honors in the pa- rade went to the La Grange High School Cosmetology Class, who won two first place ro- settes for Most Original Entry and Best Junior Entry. Apparently sub- scribing to the old theory that "if a little bit will do a little bit of good, a whole lot will do a lot of good," the class had given the ultimate makeup Job to some of thier members. The photo accompanying this article will give you some idea o...
