8 Sports Ihe 'Brand Taxth 31934 R Class Ret: Recapping the Cowboy's Basketball season Josh Bowerman Sports Writer As time began to run out last Saturday night in the Mabec Com- plex a terrible sinking feeling began to set into my stomach. It was the feeling that all athletes and fans dread one that comes when a season inevitably ends. This was supposed to be the season forthcHSU Cowboys. The team returned four of five starters from a 23-6 team who won the TIAA and narrowly missed in the NAIA Division II playoffs last year. The Cowboys looked to be deserving of their number 23 pre- season national ranking. The team started the season 11-0 setting a new school record before dropping two straight games to scholarship opponents including one to NCAA Division I Wichita State University. The losses did not deter the team as they won their next seven straight games including a vic- tory over Southwestern Univer- sity who had previously beaten the Cowboys.
