Obituary. MR. CHARLESH ATTHAMS. [Newspaper Article] — Hopetoun Courier and Mallee Pioneer — 25 September 1914

Obituary. MR.CHARLES MATTHAMS. It is with very sad and sincere re- gret that we are called upon to an- nounce the death of Mr. Charles Matthams, which took place on Sat- urday morning last. Until about a year ago he had enjoyed excellent health, but in the early part of this year there were indications that all was not well with him, and he had medical advice both locally and in Melbourne. It was in May that his condition became serious, and from that time until his death—some four months—he was unable to leave his residence, most of the time being in bed. At times he rallied, but a week before his death he took a bad turn and gradu- ally sank until he passed peacefully away. He was unconscious for up- wards of 36 hours before the end came. It is just 22 years to the very week since the deceased and the writer of this obituary brought out the first issue of the " Hopetoun Courier." Prior to this they were associated in the office of the " Wim- mera Star" for over four years, so the ...
