LOXDON WOOL RIO PORT Messrs. Helmuth Sehwartze and Co. ronort tlint the thlvd Bcrics of the London eivles ot colonial wool will commence on Tuesday, 17th Auguat. 'J'lio nirivals up to (Into comprise i2J,4.r»4 bales, and there are afloat 7JU07 hales. Of the latter about Ctf.UOO bales may blitl arrive in time, thus giving a total for disposal of about 1^0.000 bale*. The market since the closo of the last scries has been quiet. The numerous and largo failures which have recently occurred in London and the country have had no direct influence on wool, but they have led consumers to act with greater caution, and to cover only their immediate require ments. The transactions are therefore limited, but prices, as far hs the small sales can be taken as a criterion, show no alteration. At Antwerp there him been aetlvc inquiry for Itiver Plate wool during the past month, and a considerable quantity lias found buyers at currcut rates.

RIVERINA FOR VICTORIA. (Melbourne Herald). [Newspaper Article] — Wagga Wagga Advertiser — 25 August 1875

RIVERINA FOR VICTORIA. ( Melbourne Herald}. We Imvo ropeatedly urged on the people and legislators of tbis colony to lake some steps in regard to that rich district to the north of as, which uudoubtably belongs, socially and com mercially, to Victoria. It becomes more difficult year by year to annex Riveriua with Victoria. Already New South Wales is pushing her railways up to our borders with all dispatch, and in a very Bhort time to annex Itiverina will bo next to impossible. Divided as ire are at present into parties fighting for placo and power, making politics personal not national, wo appear to entiroly throw out of consideration the great movonionts which ought to bo initiated in order to keep the country in n state of progress Political squabblers resemblo fisher men who fight over some trivial griev ances while the favorable tide recedes, and lose their chance of going out in timo to catch a school of fish.
