PROGRESS OF Tf, REEBELLION IN CHINA. SOME rebels have made their appearance in the district of Choon-f~a; their forces are very great; they joined in battle with the Tartar troops for several days, and killed nine brevet-majors and captains, and more than 400 soldiers. The chief city of the Fa district is besieged by the rebels, and is in danger of being taken. A retjuisition has been made for troops for the release of the city, and the Go vernor of Canton will personally head an army for its release after the military examinations are over. We hear that more than 300 large timber yards, outside a city in the Sow chow department, have been set on fire by the rebels, and were burned on the 3rd of the ninth moon. They have also scat tered themselves among the places of Pinnam district, 3!in-fa-hu, Chun-chou hu, Kupchung-chov, Namning depart moent, Lou-yun district, Loo-poo district, ;c, plundering both day and night; great numbers of the Tartar army have been killed by them. UNITED STATES. A.IUVAL~ OF GENRAL KOSSUTII IN iEW TGRIT. Kossuth arrived in New York in the steamer Humboldt on Friday, December 5th. Guns were fired from the ship as she was cnteringthe Narrows. The pee ple rushcd to the wharf, and Dr. Doane, and several Iungarians proceeded in a boat to the steamer as she was coming up the bay. On boarding the ship Dr. Doane, HIalth Oicer, made an address to Kossuth, welcoming him to the shores of America, and handed him a letter from SMayor King?aud, of New York, request !ing that he would leave the ship and so journ for the time in the house of Dr. Done.. Kossuth replied to Dr. Doane, and thanked him ibfor his kind welcome, and left the ship with Madame Kossuth, Swho was qrite ill, and proceeded in com pany with Dr. Deane to his residence on Staten Island.
