Red Cross Workers. The committee of the local branch the Red Cross Society have once more commenced operations and are making strenuous efforts to supply comforts or the soldiers. It is urgently requested that workers will come forward again as they did last year and assist the Society in their noble work. Material can be obtained from the hon. secretary (Mrs. T. M. Drew.) There is a great demand for shirts for the soldiers and it is hoped a ready response to this appeal will be forthcoming.

COBRIGO'S WELCOME TO THEIR ANZACS. A Splendid Gathering. The residents o! Cobrico and district are to be congratulated on the splendid welcome arranged by them to their returned Anzaos, Trooper N. R. and Op!. Ernest Cole. The ball, which was packed with an enthusiastic and representative audience from tbe wbole district, (Terang, Cobdon and Camperdown), was most tastefully decorated with flags and flowers, and streamers of red, white and blue from tbe centre gave it a very pleasing effect. The musical programme was an excellent one, and tbe speeches ail bad the true patriotic ring about them tha'. oau-ted the audience to quiokly rise and give expression to the same gentiment. Timboon. (rrtOM our own courespondent.) The candidates at tbe local State school were very successful io the merit certificate examination and qualifying examination. The two presented for merit certificates, N. Robilliard and Stanley Pearson gainei merits, and seven out of eight passed the qualifying examination. The successful ones were : — William Latham, Leslie Campbell, Thomas Wulah, Kludge McClure, May Sullivan, Florence Sullivan and Alma Lambert. The children's annual pionio will be held at the school on Saturday, Dec ember 14, and it is hoped that there will be a good attendance.
