'of 'Cohgrejs,' especially "of'that oni which re-imposed postage on all papers circulating within 30 miles of the office of publicstion. We were, among the first to denounce such a retrograde, "reform," and we have m yet seen no reason to change our position or moderate our hostility to it. We then regirded, and still regard, it as a palpable {infringement of the only legitimate object of the Postoffice law, viz: the diffusion of the great«t amount of information among.the people. It may indeed be a source of a trifle more revenue to the; department; but it must also be remembered that in a vast many cases, where men arc too poor, or too penurious, (as is sometimes the case,) it entirely shuts out the newspaper from their dwellings—thus accomplishing a twofold evil of ...
