The Preservation aad Easy . Transportation of Fresh Heats . Chicago receives for its own use and for transportation to other markets over 1 , 000 bullocks per day . This number must increase largely with the development of tbe West , and in order to render forming safe and profitable , and to encourage capitalists to engage in the business of suyplying fresh animal food where it is most . needed in Europe and in the best condition in our Eastern cities , it is most desirable that some Improvement be adopted to check the waste by decay and in the course of transportation . We are told tbat this is accomplished by a process patented by Professor JOHN GAMGEE , of London , wbo is now in Chicago , after having demonstrated in New York and Boston that the meats prepared by him in London and New York have retained their pristine freshness and flavor . - The process , said tojje quite inexpensive , consists . in causing animals to . inhale carbonic oxide gas . Michigan Wool Havers . In another place we give a report of the recent meeting of tbe Michigan Wool-Buy-ers Association . We need here only express our surprise that a body of intelligent gentlemen should insist that it is just to make exactly the same deduction on a fleece of wool in which there is one pound of dirt as on a fleece in which there are four pounds of dirt ; or to make tbe same deduction on two fleeces of wool , both of which bad been very dirty , but one of which had been washed almost clean enough to pass as well washed wool . » OHIO STATE FAIR . —The list of premiums to be awarded at the next Ohio State Fair , to be held at Toledo , September 81-25 , ls now ready , and a copy may be obtained by addressing J . The meeting was called to order by the President , Hon . Thomas McGraw , of Detroit , who stated that the object of the meeting was to discuss the subject of properly preparing the wool for market and such other topics as might come up . There seemed to be a determination among farmers to sell wool ln a bad condition , for the same price as the best quality of wool should bring . A committee consisting of Messrs . H . R . Gardner , Jonathan Shearer andH . S . Ismon was appointed to frame resolutions to be presented to the meeting . Letters were read from the Agents of the Pemberton and Pacific Mills , at Lawrence , Mass ., complaining of the condition of portions of the Michigan wools .
