Perhaps do event eince the maddened and crazy rebel assault on Sumter has eo shock ed the people as' the late veto message and speech of Andrew Johnson, President of the United States. Of his veto message we give our opinion in another article to day. But the last act of the President, the ut terance of his 6peech to a crowd of fossils ana reDel sympathisers, not only surprised but brought a blush of shame to the cheek of every truly loyal man in the country. It bears on its face icduytabVfJfvidence that he was in the same ucfo 1 uuuui e at his a: tlon as that in which he wasv inauguration as Vice Presiutaris 'one year ago drunk. We cannot attempt to explain this politi cal summersault of President Johnson, in which he is found in the disgraceful and shameful business of denouncing as traitors the very party to which he owes his pres ent high position...

Lt every voter in the county remember that one week from next Monday (March 6tb) a rote is to be taken as to whether county buildings shall be erected this sum mer or not. Ia considering this question let every vo ter remember that last year we paid 61,500 for being without county buildings for transportation of prisoners to and from Law rence, rent of offices, guarding prisoners, tc. Let tax-payers remember that this sum comes out of their pockets, and also that it will increase as the county becomes more thickly settled. How many years would it take, at this rate, to pay for good county buildings? And remember that we send this amount out of the county every year for the support of foreign jails. Let every tax-payer remember that we cow have about 88,000 of available means in the treasury, above our liabilities, besides 6,000 and over that is secu...
