t Kept Alive on Alligator Meat. Capt. Tyler, of the schooner Ann E. Carll, which was wrecked off Sajfo Key, south coast of Cuba, has arrived at his home, Xorthport, L. I., and tells an in teresting story of his misfortunes and adventures. The schooner was making Avery quick passage when a hurricane fstruck her. She was driven at its mer 'cy for four days, and on the fifth, after beating over two coral reefs, she was forced back aground upon the key a small, acsoi'tte island, the only inha! itants being a number of alligators. which swarmed around durin" the first night and came near devouri'i" ibe crew. In fact, they were only kept off by a tire winch the sailors succeeded in kindling. The key is about CO miles from the mainland, and out of the usual track of vessels, but soon after the Carll had thus been wrecked, her crew were the means of saving a Spanish and an En glish crew, whose vessels had irone to pieces, and Capt. The Electoral bill passed the Senate at 7:30 on the morning of the 25th, after an all-night session, by a vote of 47 yeas to 17 nays. With the exception of Senator Eaton, of Connecticut, all those voting nay are Republicans. A meeting of prominent bankers, merchants, etc., was held in New York City on the 25th, to encourage the pro posed plan for arrnging a settlement between the defaulting Southern States and their creditors. Wm. Cullen Bry ant presided. It was recommended by tha meeting that the best way to bring about an equitable settlement and com premise of existing claims would be to anuoint a committee of disinterested arbiters and bondholders, and such ac tion was accordingly taken. Judffe David Davis was elected United States Senator from Illinois on the 25th.
