Injured Man Brought to St. An thony's Hospital in Bernid ji For Treatment. W. B. Lane, a cook employed at the camp of Irwin & O'Brien near Blackduck, was brought to St. Anthony's hospital in this city this morning suffering with severe burns about the head and eyes caused yesterday afternoon by the rush of gas from a sheet iron keg of vinegar. Lane was preparing the even ing meal yesterday and went to the vinegar keg, which is al ways kepi inside the cook shanty to secure a supply for supper. He unscrewed the top and im mediately a miniature explosion occurred, and hot gas rushed from the apperture,- severely burning him about the head and eyes, almost blinding him. The five men injured by the ex plosion of a steam boiler at the farm of Fred Eikstadt Monday &A ^afternoon. are still their own at St Anthony'holding hospital al though small hopes for the re covery of Eikstadt and Albert Brewer are entertained. Eik stadt has a fractured skull be sides a broken foot and broken leg, and is otherwise badly bruised and cut. Brewer has in ternal injuries which may prove fatal. The other injured men are in a better condition, although Alfred Brewer is in a very serious con dition and may not recover, as a result of his skull being fractured and his thigh broken. William Haberli and George Hand, the other injured men, seem to be in good condition and their in juries are not considered serious. Physicians have been in con stant attendance at the bedside...

Many Who Have Taken Lands in Canada Will Soon Return to United States. D. W. Hines, who ten years ago created a stir in railroad cir cles by announcing that he wonld build a railroad from Duluth to the rich wheat belt of North Da kota and southern Canada, was in the city last night enroute from Hines Spur, where he visited his brother, Jabez, to his home near Cavalier, N. D. Mr. Hines has just returned from a trip through southwest ern Canada, where he looked over the situation with a view of in vesting in farming property. He was not favorably impressed with the lands, however, and did not buy a single acre of Canadian soil.
