The Xt-ti -..— [Newspaper Article] — Marin Journal — 7 December 1861

The Xt-ti -..— By the latest telegraphic news, it seems to be the general opinion in New York that the struggle may now be considered over; and Mr. Seward, o:i the occasion of being serenaded on the evening of December 2nd, remarked that within ten # days t!ie people will hare occasion for great rejoicing. The President's Message has bsen delivered —in it he says nothing of a change of policy, nor of a recognition of the rebel confederacy. Registry Law.—We commend to the attention of our readers the following remarks from the Marysville on the subject of a Rogisty law for this state It appears to us that the interests of California, more than any other state in the Union, calls lot lly for some legislative action, to prevent the immense frauds, annually perpelrat-vl '.ip-j on her citizens, through the ballot-luix, by unprincipled demagogues, and the hosts of small-fry politicians that surround them. It is true our statutes fix a penalty for illegal voting, but the facilities for eva...
