The ('niton <iranta. [Newspaper Article] — Daily Alta California — 19 February 1850
The ('niton <iranta. It is our intention at no distant day to take up the subject of the recent grants of land belonging to tlie town, bj J. Q. Cotton, .lustieo of the Pence, and until that is dOM we desire to avoid participation in tlie pre-formcd opinions and half-drawn conclusions which at present arc indulged in to a considerable extent by our citizens. We may aswort that our previous convictions as to the validity of these grants remain unchanged, and we may also express a hope that the time draws nigh when the whole matter shall be laid before the properly constituted authorities. In the meantime we shall possess ourself of every species of information relating to tlie case, and lirst, in order that our readers may entertain a correct estimation of what haa been done by the functionary complained of, would lay before them a list of the grants made by him, which we have procured, and believe to be full and correct. We hope. Mile Spring will proceed at one- to the dainty labor of clothing our barren hill* with beauteous verdure. Take, away the sere- and rain-soaked leaf of last year and bring along the bright green of better weather — if the Mi-> pleases. "Hring flowers, sweet flowers" — indeed, bring almost ...
