This seems an inconsiderate and senseless rule, and if it exists should be altered. NORTH MELBOURNE POLICE COURT. MONDAY, June 8. Beforoe Dr. Lloyd (chairman), and Messrs. Ularwise, Bindon, Birtwistle, Fuller, and Wylie, Js.P. INSULTING BEHAVIOR. William Swanson was charged as abdve. He has been on remand for a week. The particulars of the case appeared in our issue of last week. Constable Gogarty said that the prisoner's wife had said to him that she was afraid of her life. Dr. Lloyd said she should swear an ilnformatin. At present the prisoner was simply charged with insulting behavior. DRUNK. John Barker, charged as above, pleaded not guilty, but according to Constable Foley defendant was running ahbout under the influence of liquor on Saturday. He paid 5s. in thoe poor-box. AN UNRULY TONOUE. Catherine Williams was charged with using insulting words in Errol-street on Sunday night. REPORITIS. Last Sunday afternoon Mr. M. WV. Oldham, honorary assistant inspector under the Fisheries Act, was in evidence at the Victoria Docks. He ordered some hundreds of underweight mullet to be returned to the water, which were caught by so-called anglers. At the Victoria Dolks--Mr. H. Tay lor has averaged 2 dozen mullet daily, from the 31st ult. to the 6th inst., inclu sive. On the latter date Messrs. W. Hanley, T. Conn, and Peterson had each 2 dozen nice mullet. The former angler on the following day had under 4 dozen of the same fish. 4th.-Messrs. Wilson, using sandwormn, 5 dozen. Off Williamstown, 7th.-Mr. Chlrilie, 30 flathead; and Mr. Booth, 66 flat head. Oalliolp party a basket of flat head; Mr. Parker, 7 flatlhead, largest 4tbs. At the Ann Street Pier.-The follow ing catches of mullet were made on sandworm during the week :-Messrs. W. Head-porter Ryan said defendant wans drunk, and had no money. Defendant was discharged. ANOTiERl ONE. HI. Barkler was summoned for travel ling on tile Essendon line on tile 80th May in a first-class carriage on a second class ticket. He pleaded guilty, and was fined los., with 10s. costs. lie was detected at the North Melbourne station.

ASSAULT. AIargaret McCoy proceeded against Annie O'Connor for assault. Complainant said that on the 3rd defendant came up to her in the street, and said "Do you know Mrs. Brown," and forthwith assaulted, her, thumping her, and pulling her off tile footway by the hair.
