A deputation from the Local Autho rities' Association had an Interview with the Home Secretary this morning, in which It was pointed out that whllo the Bill to Amend the Local Authori ties Act, tabled last session, contained many of the association's recommenda tions, there were other amendments they would like to see Includc-d. Among these were : — (1) That the ownership of all timber on roads be vested In the local authorities within whose area such Umber was growing : (2) that rates be and remain a charge upon ^.he land rated, notwithstanding any change that may take place In the ownership thereof. .
