OPEN LETTER. TO THE FRUITGROWERS OF THE VOUNG DISTRICT. Gentlemen,-It has been our priv ilege to be associated with the ma jority of you ip connection with the initial organisation of the Common wealth Co-operative Growers ami Distributors Company, but what we have to say is of c«|U;<J interest to all other growers in the district. in making use of the columns of the local press for the purpose of addressing you. we know that the press, which is the mouthpiece of the people, welcomes an opportunity to ventilate all matters tending to assist in the advancement of the dis trict . THE' BIG WATER QUESTION. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE'AT STOCKINBINGAL. The Public Works Committee took evidence at Stockinbintral on Satur day and yesterday in connection with the South Western Towns Wat er Supply Scheme from" BurrinjUck. Cr. T. Ellwood, president of thr Jindalee Shire, put in a paper which had been rend before the Progress Association, then answered several questions. In reply to the chair man he said the people of Stockin bingal would be prepared to pay the charges as set out, viz., £595 per annum in l'ates, and £1270 meter charges. He thought the charge of 5/3 per 1,000 gallon^ for the en larged scheme, or 4/10 for the main scheme, rather high: but if it could be got at 3s or 3/G the people would be prepared to pay it. At times the local people paid up to 20/ per 1000 gallons to water sheep. This only happened once in five years. The years 1014 "and 1019 wcra di ought years.
