Towards the last of May (ex act date later) we expect to have the Girls' Declamatory Contest, and the Hoys' Oratorical Con test, announced some time ago. As has been stated before, the regular school program has made no provision for such work, consequently, if the chil dren get this training it must come incidentally. A nice gold medul will be awarded in each contest. Eighteen have en tered the contest so lar. We extend our thanks to the editor of this paper for a year's subscription to "The Herald," which he presented to the school library. The City Clerk remembered the school library by presenting I us a copy of the Revised Ordi nances of the City of Ha.vti, 1911, and a copy of the Soil Survey of Pemiscot County.
