That request was endorsed by the delegation, and the Postmaster-General has designated Mr. Hunt ington, of Galena, Ills., to perform that duty. He will be here in a day or two, when every individual who knows of any corrupt act, or violation of the postal lawa in this office, is requested to make the Bame known to the special agent. The suit of David ll.ilitcl.ell, of this city, against tlie Leavenworth Times for libel has been on trial in the District Court during the part three days. Yesterday, the jury, under instructions from the court, brought in a verdirA in favor of the plaov tiff, assessing Mitchell's damage at fifty' dollars. The lilel consisted in the publication of a local item, written by the city editor of TnE Time?, without the knowledge or con sent of the proprietor, charging Mitchell with committing a rape upon one, Miss Dugan.
