f8fE H i1 n mm k r Kilt Homo and Farm How One Premium Crop was Grown In Prairie Fafmtr of April 4th Sge 51 4i tfas 3 Stffef Item about some prettiium corn fields in Adair county Missouri The yields were not cxira oidinary yet they were good Wt thought it of more importance to our readers to know how the -crop was grown than Us amount so wrote to Sir J W Parker the farmer having the largest yield for the particulars He kindly responds as follows The soil on which the corn grew was a piece of rich sandy loaiiautunin plowed to the depth of 12 inches It was again plowed in the spring with a three horse sulky plow about 14 inches deep thoroughly harrowed and planted with a two horse planter 3 feet 10 inches each way Care was taken to Ret 4 stalks in a hill It was harrowed both ways immediately after planting As soon as the corn appeared the harrow was again used then plowed with a diamond plow throwing the dirt from the hills A week later the diamond plow was reversed and again used Ten ...
