The Jnry Commissioners ale called to meet at the Court-HIouse at 11 o'clock Monday niorning for orgnili zation. That well known and estimable citizen of the first ward. Mr. R. 0. Landry, placed us under oldigation by the tender of a basket of fine peach es, which were duly accepted and ap preciated. Work upon the new wharf has pro gressed finely during the past few weeks. Mr. LeBlanc's conitract calls for the compltiol of the wharf ly tlie Ist of September, and we do not doubt that lie will be on time. A serious charge is pending against David White of the second ward, it being no less than an alleged attempt to poison Peter Battis. Peter nearly petered out from the dose of poison which lie swallowed, but lie is better now and will recover. To Mr. Sang LeBlanc, keeper of the wharf, we return thanks for several Vicksburg and Natchez papers sent to our office. Mr. H. D. Minor of the 8th ward .declined to serve as levee syndic, for .the reason that he was opposed to the enforcement of the ordinances Finder which he was appointed.
