FREE PRES HARRY FREESE, Publisher. HAYS. KANSAS. What is the feminine of "bcss, esks ait editor. That man isn't mar Tied. That $10,000 bill is said to be a "work of art. It is expensive enough to be. The vigor of the age may be esti mated by the number of fads it is .harmlessly carrying. A Texan is suing a corporation for '$20,000 for the loss of a toe. Must have had a corn crop on it. Qarllc Is suggested as a cure for tu berculosis. It will at least have the advantage of Isolating the cases. But appendicitis wasn't Invented then. The latest fad Is hygienic mar riages. It is sweeping all other fads out of the public eye. FJEW KIND OF AN IRISHMAN Definition That by His Own Confes sion Was Very Little Far From the Truth. Apropos of the very telling retorts that Sam Scheppa made to Cross-Examiner Mclntyre In the Becker case. Jerome S. . "The man was my counsel in a cus toms dispute over some Gobelin tapes tries that Td imported. His name had. like my own, a 'Mick' in it, and I said to him. as I settled his very large bill: 'Are you an Irishman, sir? " "No,' he answered, with a pompous laugh, "but I've made a lot of money out of Irishmen in my time. Oh, I see said I. I suppose we might call you an Irishman by ex traction, then. OH ! HARRY FREESE, Publisher. HAYS. -'.-- - KANSAS. Notwithstanding the death records aviators continue to cut loose on a spiral glide. A Chicago man went to jail rather than eat hash. Some things are worse than prison. A specialist Bays that modern dress Is killing women. Well, they're dressed to kill. The compositor who set it up "the high cost of loving" is, of course, a skinflint bachelor. "Wisconsin hunters found . a thirty pound mushroom, or in other words enough to kill a regiment. " A Corean bride is obliged to remain absolutely silent on her wedding day. That's because it's her last opportu nity. A cent a day is all It costs a man to live In China. But do not rejoice. A half-cent a day is all a man can earn. A Texas woman left $100,000 to aid In the support of old maids. But will -any woman step forward to claim a jhare? - A 1 FREEPRESS HARRY FREESE, Publisher. HAYS. KANSAS. The American people consume 120, 000 gallons of ice cream a year. It Is his own fault if the lover of pumpkin pie is not happy now. It must make a man feel mighty email these days to hide behind a woman's skirts. A Boston minister says that a couple can marry on $15 a week. - Still we advise them not to. Needless to say that the woman ?Fho threw her shoes at the Judge's bead did not hit him.. Chafing dishes have been found in the ruins of Pompeii. Evidently life in Rome wasn't all Joy. A western woman has lost two hus bands by lightning. Evidently neith er of them was a conductor. Coach Haughton .gets $10,000 a year for teaching Harvard how to play football. He earns the money. Girls are superior to- boys as prac tical farmers, says the department of agriculture. Back to the land! A California girl refused to marry jl man because he wore a mustache.
