BRIEF AND BREEZY If Rockefeller Jr., can not end the white slave traffic he will earn the contempt of Rockefeller Sr. There was never any kind of trade that Stan dard Oil couldn't end. The caustic Cincinnati Enquirer ob serves that Cincinnati would rather be a beer garden than a cabbage patch. Of course or than anything else but a larger beer garden. Very probably Mr. Cannon's alleged interest in baseball is limited to an ardent desire to borrow a bag and cave in the cranial convexity of an insur gent. Long as there is plenty of cakes and pie, why should New York worry over a little thing like a bread famine? Panama Canal expenditures are so heavy that a new bond issue is inevi table. However, it is hoped to post pone the issue until the congressional elections. It is unanimously agreed, it seems, that Alfred Austin's poem to the dead king is one of the saddest things in current literature. A New York druggist has invented an "anti-microbe kissing gauze." He will do well to keep rig...

SUBSCRIPTION PRICE, $2.00 PER YEAR Entered as second-class matter March 3, 1905, at the postoffice at Glendive, Mont., under the Act of Congress of March 3. 1879. THURSDAY. JUNE 9, 1910. WASHINGTON LETTER Reports from the Treasury Depart ment indicate a very healthy growth of the internal revenue. There are twenty million more dollars to the credit of this source than there were in June of last year. For the month of May there were in round numbers three millions and a half of receipts over regular disbursements. This sum, how ever, was not inclusive of the dis bursements on account of the Panama Canal or the public debt. The Canal disbursements for May were four 1 millions. The customs or tariff re- E ceipts for May show a falling off, but those from internal revenue have, as stated above, increased more than E twenty millions over the receipts for 1909. The Secretary of the ...
